For many years, Delta Energy Solution has already co-operated as a reliable partner with swissgrid, which is in charge of managing the national transmission system and operating the high-voltage grid. Delta’s system supports swissgrid in schedule management in the roles of the control area, Swiss control block and coordination centre UCTE south operator. Since 2002, the software package ET3000 developed by Delta has been used by swissgrid around the clock and has not had a single serious failure to date.

Well in advance when many customers were not yet able to clearly foresee what IT changes would become necessary because of the market’s liberalization, swissgrid and Delta Energy Solution AG already launched a joint project to create the basis for implementing the new Swiss Electricity Supply Act.

The fully automated solution for generating schedules on the basis of trader notifications that is operated by swissgrid today permits the efficient handling of large data volumes with reasonable human resources. This application also is able to take account of the specific rules applying to cross-border schedules to France, Germany, Austria and Italy.
In case of errors during processing, the system offers the user several functions for resolving schedule-related problems. System error messages are prioritized and directly transmitted to the service desk.
All incoming and outgoing messages as well as internal system activities are logged and are available for clarifications and archiving. The current schedule situation and the positions of the control area and control block can be displayed at any time.
In line with the ESS process, e-mail or FTP services are used for communicating with the market actors. For special messages, however, other file formats are available, too.

In November 2008, swissgrid took the updated system into productive operation. Both partners were able to implement the schedule management project on time and on budget.
